What is Content?
You might be hearing me saying content, content, content over and over. If you are not familiar with content marketing and its full scope, we are going to cover all of that here.
The dictionary definition first,
“Content Marketing is a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services”
What are the different types of content?
- Videos
- Blogs
- Social media posts
- Podcast
- Web Pages
- Infographics
- And more
My simple explanation for content is anything you created with the intention of putting it out to your audience to consume and build trust.
Content is everywhere but what can content marketing do for you?
One, Create awareness
Putting out content means you are creating ways for people to find you and what you do.
An example is through google search. Imagine searching up for a question you have like maybe “how to improve your mental health” then you found this website with all the details you need and since you liked that content you keep browsing the website. And it turns out that is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve mental health awareness in your community, if you want to learn more they provide other resources and programs.
Through this, you now have an awareness of this organization. And search engines are not the only way to do this, social media, youtube, etc. can help you do this too.
Two, Build relationships
Now that someone is aware of who you are. They can be subscribed to your email list, following you on social media, or just keeping tabs on your activities. You want to nurture that and continue giving them content that will help build the relationship and trust between you and your audience.
Three, Spark Action
Of course, we have an end goal for creating content. It can be to get their feedback, their commitment towards an action, maybe a purchase or donation. Whatever it is putting out content with a call to action will help you move towards that goal.
